Lip AugmentationIf you desire more voluminous lips, there are cosmetic treatments in lip augmentation that you may want to consider. While many women would like to have pouty, well-defined lips, most do not have them naturally and many even see their lips thin out over time. This process is a natural result of aging, but can be accelerated further by smoking. Who can benefit from lip augmentation? If you think your lips are thinner than normal, or thinner than you would like, lip augmentation may be a good procedure for you. If your lips have thinned out over time and lost their shape, you may want to consider lip augmentation. This procedure may not be recommended if you're prone to getting cold sores or skin eruptions around the lips. Areas treated during lip augmentation
What is the procedure like?Lip augmentation is typically performed using some type of injectable filler. Hyaluronic acid, collagen or fat injections can be used. Wrinkle fillers such as Juvederm are very common for lip augmentation procedures. Before the procedure starts, a medication will be used to control discomfort during the procedure; this will usually involve a dental block or numbing cream anesthetic. Your doctor uses a needle of specific size to inject the filler into areas that require volumizing. Your surgeon uses a technique that preserves the natural appearance of the lips while enhancing the size and shape. After injection, some brief massaging of the area may be necessary to achieve a smooth result. What can I expect during recovery? After lip augmentation, it is common to experience some swelling and soreness in the lips. They may feel fuller than expected immediately after treatment, but as the swelling subsides and you adjust to the results, you'll be able to appreciate the outcome.
